Mr. Tea Episode #23 – Earl Grey MarTEAni by Mr. Tea on Vimeo

In this episode, I’ll try a tea with a twist, for the adult viewers (which hopefully is all of you). I was told I HAD to try this earl grey martini, where tea is infused into gin for 3 hours, then mixed with simple syrup, fresh squeezed lemon juice, and an egg white. As it turns out, it’s amazing. Since I’m sure you’ll want to try it yourself, here’s the recipe:

1 1/2 oz. Earl Grey infused Gin (infuse 14 teabags of earl grey tea for 3 hours in a 1.75L bottle of Tanqueray gin)

1 oz. simple syrup (1 part water, 1 part sugar)

3/4 oz. fresh squeezed lemon juice

1 egg white

Then shake like crazy, and enjoy. Let me know your thoughts if you get a chance to try it. Cheers.

Recently, I’ve been getting a lot of requests for a close up of the family portrait that resides over my right shoulder in all of my videos. Well, as might have figured, I’m a man of the people, so I introduce to you the Wright family portrait, circa 1990. And, yes, as @melaniemagic so appropriately pointed out, those are flying pandas on the front, and our names running down the sleeves – the Wright’s don’t do anything half ass.

In this episode, I visit a brand new tea lounge in Downtown Fullerton called Tranquil Tea Lounge. With 85 different loose leaf teas, an enthusiastic staff, and a modern, comfortable environment, they’ve given SoCalifornians the perfect alternative to coffee houses and bars. When you stop in, be sure to meet the owners, Jonathon and Michellee (mish -eh-lee). You can find them on Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and Yelp!. And of course, if you’re looking for someone to join you, just let me know. Cheers.

Properly storing your tea is a big part of enjoying the perfect cup. Try to aviod air, light, odor, heat, and moisture for the freshest and longest lasting teas. If properly stored, your teas should last 2-3 years, depending on the type of tea. If you want the containers shown in this video, check out www.specialtybottle.com – they’re super cheap and great for storage.
